So as of 10am today, March 7, 2012, the new iPad, the iPad 3 has been officially announced to be released on March 16, 2012. The pricing is as expected, starting at $499, but for a limited time, Apple is sending out the new iPad 3 to a select few consumers to "test the market".
I know this sounds crazy, since they just released the date, but it is their way of gauging the reception it will get. You fill out a quick form, they send you the iPad 3 to test, let them know of any bugs in the system, and they have a chance to fix it before the release date!
